A long and successful history
Ecclesiastical Insurance was founded in the United Kingdom in 1887 by statesmen and churchmen primarily to protect churches from the consequences of fire.
A century-plus of growth
Over the past 130 years, Ecclesiastical Insurance has grown and diversified — both in terms of geography and the scope of products and services offered. Today, in addition to the United Kingdom, Ecclesiastical operates in Canada and Ireland, and as Ansvar in Australia, and serves the insurance needs of almost 200,000 customers.
Serving Canadian customers
from coast to coast
The Canadian branch was opened in 1972. Since then, we have grown and expanded as well. Today, through our Regional Branches in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Dartmouth, we work with a national network of independent brokers and provide comprehensive underwriting services, risk control expertise and dedicated claims service to customers in every province and territory in the country.
Specialist solutions for niche markets
Ecclesiastical provides customized insurance solutions to faith based organizations, retirement homes, educational institutions, registered charities, non-profit groups and associations, arts, cultural, and heritage properties, funeral services providers, as well as select commercial establishments.
We are proud to serve the insurance needs of organizations that care about their communities and the environments in which they live and work. And, we are very proud to donate a significant proportion of our profits to charitable initiatives.
